Overview

The Bourret Township Cemetery is a historic site that is no longer active. While no new burials take place, it remains an important part of the township’

Nestled just off School Road, the historical Bourret Township cemetery is a quiet testament to our origins, established in 1898 by the area’s early logging settlers. While the cemetery closed around 1920, it serves as the final resting place for 19 local souls.
 
​Over the decades, time has worn away most markers; only three headstones remain scattered amongst several broken wooden crosses, leaving many exact grave locations unknown. 
 
To honor the memory of these founding residents, the Township is actively exploring several preservation avenues, including historical cemetery grants, to ensure their contribution to our community is never forgotten.
